Closet Sleepers and Healthy Dinners!

My January blog posts always seem like I am grasping at straws for
entertainment around here. We pretty much go into hibernation mode, so
here are a few of the latest and greatest for  the January-blah.
I found our kids crashed out in Em's closet, way rad!
I don't even have to make beds in the
morning.

Healthy Shoell Sunday....that's right healthy and Shoell
in the same sentence.
It comes with the "New Year",  these healthy goal
challenges we decide to take on.
Here are a few snap shots of our
"Healthy Sunday dinner", not everyone loved my idea of
tons of veggies, little meat.
My Dad kept saying, "Is this some kind of sick joke?"
Of course my Sis loved it!

Ryan is smiling but he was just being nice, I am pretty sure
I heard things like a "Wendy's run" under his breath.
Despite the grumbles we made it through!

Stay tuned for more, "January is fabulous"and man
would I hate to be on a beach in South East Asia-updates.

Cheer Tears

My cute niece Beth invited Syd to Cheer Camp, I guess I should have made it clear
that after three days the camp would be over. After her stellar  half time performance at
P.G.'s basket ball game I found her sobbing her pretty little eyes out.
When I asked, what on earth was wrong? She said,"I want  to be with my cheerleading
friends, I don't want it to be over!"
WOW, I never knew. No worries Syd, you only have like ten
more years and you too can be a Pleasant Grove Cheerleader-FOR REAL!

Baby Smart

If I could "dubs"  a baby....
This little dude would be at the top of my list.
My little sister Mindy and her hubby had the worst week.
And I was deemed the lucky winner of a few extra kids, just for a couple of days.
Long enough for me to fall in love with Baby Simon
AND
win the coolest Aunt award
(Cassie and Angie might argue that one).

 It wasn't too hard.

Unlimited DS time,

All you can eat- cereal, fruit roll ups
and cookie dough bar.
(Never mind any severe tummy cramping)

Some sweet tub time,

And Wa-Lah...We have a winner!

I am a little sad that Mindy and Beetle had to endure a miserable
week but so happy that I could be the recipient of a couple of extra
crazy kids.
PS Trent said he was sad he missed the party.
I think it was probably better that he was traveling :)

New Years, New Goals & going private!

Cheers to the New Year!
Okay, so I thought I would officially start my New Year Blog.
Along with a few Savage family goals (sometimes that word makes me squirm)
I think it is because I am afraid of possibly flaking out.
Family goals are usually a win for me. Trent is super amazing when it
comes to setting and achieving his goals so I like to be on his team. Plus, check out that cool
hat, who wouldn't want to set some heights to reach with this Dude?
 1. Read the Book of Mormon as a family, I might as well put hike Mnt. Everest...
This has proven to be super-duper challenging. So the "Jamie" version of this goal is
teach my kids the Book of Mormon stories. I want them to be able to look at pictures
in the scriptures and know who and what is going on.

2.  I would talk about our Respect one another goal but I hate it.
Just kidding. It has also proven to be a little difficult and we
are only in the second week of January. So the "Jamie" version is
for me to try to not lose my cool as frequently and to stop and think
before I speak (did I really just commit to that?)
We also want to help our little yahoos realize that their is
NO ONE MORE IMPORTANT THEN EACH OTHER.
I am sure this will become a life long goal and
some days/years might be better than others.

3. To take a couple of really fun family trips so we can
brag about them in next years Christmas card...Wa-haa!
but for real, we do want try to make some memorable trips this
year with the kiddies.

4.  Attend the temple at least 12 times. I know, it may not
sound like we are reaching for the stars but this would actually be
more than we have done if you added up the past few years. We figure
since we live close to many temples we have no reason to not
to pass with flying colors.

5. And finally,  have regular FHE (Family Home Evenings)
We are pretty good at this..but I want to be a little
more "rock star" about them. Nothing to make other families
feel like their not as cool as us (just being funny) but things that will really have an
impact on our sweet punks. I also commit to having a happy, positive
attitude when T-Man is on the road and I am the "lone FHE Representative".

AND, SO,
their you have it.
Nothing out of this world and yet
hopefully things that keep us going in the right direction.
Happy 2012!

Christmas

Em squeezed Trent and said
"I LOVE Santa and I love you too Daddy!"

We loved our Christmas morning-
we also loved our afternoon with FAMILY!
Grandma Linda Loo

 Grandma Susan  and crew!

 Christmas evening a full house.

My Dad with his overalls, he has a true
love for these- rad man pants.
Opening our "Sista" gifts...That's my happy face or maybe just
my wiped out Christmas game face.

And I had to add this one because Em has a
new love...
The Conner.

Christmas Eve

 The Christmas Eve Talent Show....
and it was a show.

This will always be an especially
memorable night, not
just because of Grandma
Linda singing
"I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas".
But because we were able to listen
to Grandma Linda
share her testimony of our
Savior.
She also let us know of
the love she has for her family.

I love that we were able to share the
importance of Christmas with our little ones.
Our Savior was born, he came to this
earth to fulfill his mission so that we can return to live with
our Heavenly Father.
Merry Christmas Eve little Savages!

Pretty

For all the pretty people out there.
We had lots of dress up going on during the winter
break. Syd was going for the Dorthy/Pioneer look
and Emmy a saloon girl- but of course.
 PRETTY.

This is pretty...
Pretty hair, pretty poodle skirt fashion all the while taking time to admire
 the Christmas card door.
(One of my favorite parts about the Holidays).
The hair and the cards!

The EVE of EVE

We kicked off our EVE-EVE with a trip to build a bear,
please admire Tate's selection.

Grandma Susan knows how to put on a party!
We have missed Eve, Eve the last few years. Grandma Susan
did not let us down, we were able to take
a horse drawn carriage around her festive neighborhood.

 Memorable for sure.

I loved our nativity this year, each family took a part and
yes, I was a super lame picture taker this year.
But look at these cute Shepperd's...

And these really cute Wise girls...

The winner of the night was Aunt Deb-
scoring this little lady a gumball machine!
